Hello I’m Denise
Founder of Sensitive Social Work & Counselling
About Me
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a background in early childhood development and experience supporting children, adolescents, parents and families across a range of mental health presentations. My practice is grounded in trauma-informed, neuroaffirming and evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy and play-based strategies.
I have particular interest and experience in perinatal mental health, child development, parenting support and working alongside neurodivergent children and young people. I understand that no two individuals or families are the same, and I take the time to genuinely get to know each person within the context of their family, relationships and broader support systems.
Collaboration is central to my work. Whether supporting a parent through the early stages of adjustment, working with a child on emotional or social development, or liaising with schools and other professionals, I aim to create a safe and respectful space where everyone feels heard and valued. When I attend schools or community settings, I prioritise maintaining connection with parents through regular phone or email check-ins, recognising the important role they play in their child’s wellbeing.
At the heart of my practice is a belief that people are not defined by their struggles. I feel privileged to walk alongside individuals and families during vulnerable and growth-filled seasons, supporting them to build insight, strengthen relationships and move toward lives that reflect their values and strengths.
